What Are The Differences Between Geothermal Cooling And Conventional Air Conditioning

June 2, 2021by admin0

When it comes to efficiency, geothermal AC is far superior to conventional central air conditioning.

In the hottest summers, your geothermal heat pump will always be effective and efficient at cooling your home. You can reduce your electricity consumption by 25 to 50 percent with a geothermal air conditioner! The upcoming hot summer months are a perfect time to switch to geothermal cooling to reduce your energy costs.

With a high Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER), your HVAC system will produce more energy compared to the amount of energy it needs to run. With a 3.4 EER, an HVAC system produces as much energy as it consumes. Even the most efficient conventional AC systems only have an EER of between 9 and 15! Geothermal AC systems typically have an EER of between 15 and 25!

A few other methods of efficiency measurement exist, such as Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios (SEERs) and Coefficients of Performance (COPs). But this confusion arises from the lack of standardization within the industry. It is essentially the same function that they each serve. Hence, regardless of how you measure efficiency, geothermal always wins out over HVAC systems.

HVAC systems with greater efficiency can save you more money! If you choose a high EER HVAC system like geothermal AC, you will minimize your cooling bills each month.

COSTS FOR GEOTHERMAL

A key distinction between upfront and operational costs is that upfront costs are one-time (or multiple one-time costs if you choose to pay in installments), while operational costs are recurring monthly. The upfront cost of conventional HVAC systems is lower, while the operating costs of geothermal HVAC systems are higher.

GRANTS & REBATES

The time is now to start planning your Geothermal System upgrade.

Unfortunately, only 700,000 grants are available for all of Canada.

Make the switch to more energy-efficient heating equipment to save on your utility bill and reduce your carbon footprint.

Up to $5,600 back.

This program, in conjunction with Enbridge’s “Home Efficiency Rebate Program”, will these offer incentives.

You must book & have an energy audit prior to doing any upgrades to your home.

SEE IF YOU QUALIFY

The use of geothermal energy for heating and cooling buildings and homes has existed for many years. Among the cheapest, most energy-efficient, and most renewable alternatives for heating and cooling, are geothermal heat pumps. Your savings and return on investment will be substantial if you heat with oil, propane, or electric heat!
